A new cultural institution for puppet theatre

Home at last!

In the narrow street of Kolk in Lübeck’s Old Town, the listed merchants' houses – once home to the puppet theatre and its museum – have undergone extensive restoration and expansion over nearly seven years. In March 2025, KOLK 17 Puppet Theatre & Museum was finally able to return to its historic premises. A unique fusion of historical architecture and contemporary design has created a cultural venue that brings the diversity and history of puppet theatre to life in an impressive way. Theatre performances will begin as early as 28 March. The first exhibition, titled “Puppet Theatre – The Play of Life”, will open on 28 June.
