Cooperations

Regional an supra-regional
cooperation

Our cooperation with foundations and local authorities implements important projects that individual institutions cannot achieve on their own. Nationwide cooperation with foundations promotes the exchange of good ideas and approaches. The Possehl Foundation is a member of the Association of German Foundations.

Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben

From February 20th to 22nd, 2026, Germany's up-and-coming string players gathered in Lübeck. Forty-nine highly talented young musicians came to the Hanseatic city to audition for one of the valuable instruments from the German Musical Instrument Fund. Thirty-four of them impressed the five-member volunteer jury and were allowed to take a valuable violin, viola, or cello home on loan. Ten other young musicians successfully extended the loan period of their instruments. Among the instruments available this year were violins by Stradivari (1703) and Guadagnini (1756), as well as cellos by Grancino (around 1700) and Vuillaume (1845), but also instruments by contemporary luthiers, including violins by Stefan-Peter Greiner and Haiko Seifert, and a cello by Urs W. Mächler.

TEAM LÜBECK Lighthouse project for top-class sport in Lübeck

Since 2019, the Possehl Foundation has been cooperating with the Gregor Wintersteller Foundation in the TEAM LÜBECK foundation initiative. It supports talented and top athletes in a development squad who compete for a club organized in the Lübeck Gymnastics and Sports Association. Athletes can apply to join the squad and receive monthly financial support for a year. In addition, separate applications can be submitted, for example to cover the costs of travel to competitions. It is formed each year in January by a committee of representatives from the participating foundations and TSB Lübeck.

Apprentices College

Lübeck Apprentices College - a joint project with the Joachim Herz Foundation from Hamburg - was launched as a pilot scheme in 2020 and is the first programme in Germany that helps apprentices to develop their potential during their training.

Lübeck Education Fund

We can only tackle educational poverty with as little bureaucracy as possible if we work together. No one - neither local authorities, the state, job centres nor foundations - can do it alone. This is why the Possehl Foundation has been involved in the Lübeck Education Fund for over ten years. Thanks to this initiative, kindergartens and schools can better support the children of low-income parents.
