In the heart of the Hanseatic city
The Possehl Foundation has been based in Beckergrube in Lübeck's Old Town for over 100 years, just like the L. Possehl & Co. mbH Group, which was founded in 1847. In accordance with the wishes of its founder Emil Possehl, it promotes "all that is good and beautiful" in Lübeck and is committed to preserving the beauty of the city and its amenities, supporting young people, advancing art and science and alleviating the hardship of those in need.
Where we come from
The Possehl Foundation is named after the Lübeck entrepreneur and senator Emil Possehl (1850-1919). In his will, he bequeathed his company L. Possehl & Co. GmbH to the Possehl Foundation, which is still the sole shareholder of the globally active group today. The economic success of the Possehl Group has been the basis for the Foundation's work for 100 years.
