Travel broadens the mind
Every two years, the Possehl Foundation awards scholarships to talented students from the architecture and urban planning departments at Lübeck Technical University. These are intended to enable students to travel outside Lübeck and enrich their studies.
Experience & expand horizons
During his lifetime, Emil Possehl promoted the exchange of knowledge between employees and students with travel grants. In this spirit, since 2019 the foundation has awarded Possehl Scholarships for Architecture to bachelor and master students in architecture and urban planning at Lübeck Technical University who deserve special recognition and support due to their talent, their achievements, the architectural quality of their work or their commitment to their studies. The awards are presented in the form of travel grants and travel allowances and are intended to enable students to travel or spend time outside Lübeck as a valuable impetus and inspiration for their studies. In addition to professors from the Technical University and a representative of the Possehl Foundation, the jury includes representatives of the Lübeck Architecture Forum and the Association of German Architects.
Possehl Scholarship for Architecture 2023
Awards & exhibition at the Kulturwerft Gollan
Living and working on Glashüttenweg, a school made of wood and flying roofs: three students from Lübeck Technical University each received a travel scholarship in May 2023, including for the first time an urban planner. Seven other students received a travel grant. The young urban planner Vanessa Grube and the architects Nick Luca Alexander Hettwer and Yannik Schümann received the €3,000 travel scholarship. They plan to use the money to travel to Italy and Japan and bring back ideas for their own projects and studies. Mika Bättjer, Lukas Chmielnik, Mark Vincent Fritzemeier, Laura Heßler, Karina Kreker, Johanne Lüdemann and Melanie Mohammadi each received a travel grant of €500 for their work.
The award of the scholarships was accompanied by an exhibition at the Kulturwerft Gollan, which provided an impressive insight into the power of the students' imagination.
