apprentices
Anyone doing an apprenticeship in Germany receives a lot of professional input. However, the development of personal skills is often neglected in everyday training. The Azubi Kolleg Lübeck - a cooperation project with the Joachim Herz Foundation from Hamburg - is the first programme in Germany to help trainees to realise their potential during their training.
Added value for trainees and companies
The dual vocational training system in Germany is both a speciality and a success story. With the Apprentices College, we are now offering an additional component for personal development. We want to support talented and high-performing Lübeck apprentices in their personal development and help them to expand their individual and social skills.
A jury with expertise in the field of vocational training and personal development selects the scholarship holders in their first year of training. At the start of the second year, the training programme accompanying the apprenticeship begins. Through seminars, workshops and training sessions in two block events per year, participants gain more self-confidence and learn to take responsibility for themselves and others. The college concludes with a certificate award ceremony.
The Apprentices College is aimed at apprentices who live in Lübeck or are completing their training there. The scholarship holders of the college are supported from the second year of their apprenticeship onwards.
Cooperation with the Joachim Herz Foundation
Lübeck Apprentices College was developed as a pilot project in cooperation with the Joachim Herz Foundation in Hamburg and has been in existence since 2020, initially for five years. Since 2023, the Joachim Herz Foundation has also been offering the scholarship together with the Hamburg Institute for Vocational Education and Training (HIBB) in Hamburg.
